Last week's main story was the unveiling of pre-order details for Oculus Rift, including the release date & price for the virtual reality headset.

From that moment on Oculus VR founder Palmer Luckey has been answering questions from both prospective customers and journalists regarding launch strategy, pricing, tech, and of course the inevitable comparisons to the competition.

Regarding Sony's PlayStation VR - the PS4 headset previously known as Project Morpheus - Luckey has been rather direct in stating Oculus offering is superior tech-wise, by using more ambitious and cutting-edge hardware:

"Their headset isn't quite as high-end as ours," Luckey told the IB Times, "PlayStaton 4 is not nearly as powerful as our recommended spec for a PC".

Despite this direct comparison between hardware (and keeping in mind the fact that PS4 is also way cheaper than the recommended spec PC for Oculus, and PS VR will probably be cheaper than the Rift), the Oculus VR exec says Sony's offering "is a good headset", and finds it positive that PlayStation is also betting large on the new VR wave with its own games.

Technology is of course crucial when it comes to experiencing good quality virtual reality - and that's why that new wave is kicking off now, in 2016 - but user friendliness and accessibility have also been proven to be important when introducing new entertainment technology. So, when Sony decides to finally announce a definitive price and launch date for PSVR, more accurate comparisons with Oculus (and even the HTV Vive) can be made.
