When Oculus VR announced that the Oculus Rift Virtual Reality headset is to be released on March 28th for £500/$600, everyone turned to competitors Sony (Playstation VR), Valve/HTC (Vive) and Samsung (Samsung Gear) for similar announcements.

And surely enough new details quickly emerged about Sony's Playstation VR headset only to be refuted by Sony themselves shortly after. The original details came from Amazon Canada, who briefly claimed that Playstation were to be released as late as December 31st with a pricetag of as much as $1,125.35 Canadian dollars. That would equal to about 800 US dollars, which is $200 more than Oculus Rift.

Whether or not these details were based on confidential information, or if Amazon Canada were simply guessing, remains to be seem. For now however, the official stance remains that PlayStation VR will release in "the first half of 2016", and no price has been communicated.
