Outlast 2, the cunningly named sequel to hit indie horror title Outlast, is coming this year. Now we're starting to find out a bit about the upcoming game and it sounds like it's going to be something to look forward to.

Now developer Red Barrels has released the first teaser image for the game on Twitter. Fans then had a few questions, and Red Barrels answered a couple of them, in the process revealing some new information.

The studio confirmed that the game won't be set in an asylum this time around, instead they are going for a completely new setting. They confirmed that it will take place after the events that took place in Mount Massive, the setting from the first title.

The developer also confirmed that hiding will feature in the game once again. From we can tell from the picture, it seems to be set against some sort of rural backdrop. Possibly a swamp or a bayou. The pick axe possibly suggests a mining village? At this stage we're just speculating, but we're looking forward to finding out more.

The new setting will mark a change for the fledgling series, but it will also mean a welcome change of scenery. A lot of horror games have been set in asylums as of late, most notably The Evil Within. Outlast 2 doesn't have a release date as of yet, but will more than likely head for the same platforms as its predecessor. We'll confirm more news when we have it.
