The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences has announced that Hideo Kojima, the video game producer best known as the creator of Metal Gear Solid, will be the twenty-first member of the DICE Awards Hall of Fame.

The award will be handed to the designer during DICE Summit by movie director Guillermo del Toro, the man who collaborated with Kojima when creating P.T. and the cancelled Silent Hills.

The award comes after a troubled year for Hideo Kojima, with several reported disagreements between the producer and Konami, which culminated in an official divorce of the parties on December 15. After allegedly being denied an appearance at the Video Game Awards by Konami, Hideo Kojima is expected to attend DICE Summit to receive the award, an event scheduled to take place on 16, 17 and 18 of February.
