In a press release posted last night, Funcom announced a new partnership with Conan Properties. This deal makes the Norwegian developer the "preferred partner for all PC and console games based on the 'Conan the Barbarian' brand and the world of Hyboria", as the press release says.

This doesn't necessarily mean that Funcom will have any exclusivity handling Conan, but it sounds like they will carry the heaviest load when it comes to game adaptations of the fantasy hero's adventures.

As you might know, the two have collaborated earlier on Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, which was released back in 2008. This was obviously something Conan Properties regard as a successful endeavour, especially since the company's CEO Fredrik Malmberg gave this comment on the new partnership:

"Working with Funcom through the years has been a rewarding and very enjoyable journey. Making them our preferred partner for all PC and console games based on 'Conan the Barbarian' is the next step on that great journey. Funcom has shown they are more than capable of managing the rich heritage of Conan and to breathe new life into the world of Hyboria, and we are thrilled to be working together on new, exciting projects."

Now there are three new games on the horizon (Correction - there are three games coming from Funcom, but only one of them is based on the Conan IP). All will be announced during 2016, starting with the first, which will be revealed in January.

All we can do now is wait and see what the future holds.
