Forget about Miiverse. In the future Nintendo consoles will use a new system where you simply create a "Nintendo Account", and you can even create one via social media such as Facebook or Twitter. The idea is to have a versatile account that works across multiple devices (computers, phones, tablets and consoles) with practical features like cloud saves and synchronised friends lists. Much like competing services like PSN, Xbox Live and Steam.
We still have a little waiting to do in the west, but today registration forms for the Japanese edition of the new account system has kicked off. We have no info about when this will happen in the rest of the world, but surely it must mean that the new platform is nearing completion.
