The trend toward remastering and rebooting has taken a trip down memory lane this week with the news that the original System Shock is getting reworked by Night Dive Studios (the same team behind last year's Enhanced Edition of the game).
The studio picked up the rights to the franchise following the closure of Looking Glass Studios, and having dipped their toe in the proverbial water with the Enhanced Edition, they're now going full remake.
"We have been in contact with members of the original System Shock team and any future iterations of the System Shock games, and by this I mean both new titles in the series as well as major updates to the existing games, will be very true to the spirit of the originals," Night Dive CEO Stephen Kick told Polygon (who have even more screens showing off their progress beyond the one attached below).
There's no word on when the remake will be ready for public consumption, but we look forward to seeing how it develops in the months ahead.
