EA boss Patrick Söderlund has promised, that Star Wars Battlefront will get more free content over the coming months. Söderlund says there is "lots of new content coming over the next several months that will provide new ways to immerse yourself in Star Wars. We will be adding new maps and Star Cards, for free in the coming months, in addition to all of the content we have coming with Season Pass. We'll have more to share soon."
Clearly EA and DICE have heard complaints from players that the game is light on content. Speaking of free content, DICE have supplied some additional details on the upcoming free Battle of Jakku DLC. Those who pre-ordered the game will get the content on December 1, with others able to join in a week later. Battle of Jakku adds two new maps, one of them large for modes like Walker Assault and Supremacy and also adds a brand new mode called Turning Point that reminds us of Battlefield's Rush.
Turning Point is a third big scale game mode for 40 players. This mode portrays the efforts of the Rebel Alliance to defeat the Empire following the Battle of Endor. "At the edge of the map, the Empire has constructed a make-shift base as well as smaller fortifications strewn across the landscape. Following an emergency landing, the Rebels need to locate the enemy bases to attack and take control of them all", as Lead Level Designer Dennis Brännvall explains in a blog post. Airspeeders and AT-STs are a central part of this mode.
Rebels need to capture one base at a time, with it being increasingly difficult to capture the bases the finale will take place over the Imperial base.
