AMD is rumoured to be preparing for the next generation of game consoles. As most of you probably know, the company powers all three of today's console, and according to Wccftec, AMD intend to keep it that way.
Sources that claim to be close to AMD say that the company expects the next generation of consoles to arrive in 2018. The GCN architecture (already used today) can be optimised to deliver five times the performance of today without any need for more power.
Nothing is confirmed, of course, and both Microsoft and Samsung have been reported as interested in taking over AMD which might, of course, shake things up. But if the rumours are true, we are at the most three years away from the next generation of consoles.
