Borderlands Online cancelled, 2K China shuts down

Additional time needed would "not yield a favourable return on investment".

Borderlands Online and the studio behind it, 2K China have been shuttered. "We can confirm that we are closing 2K China," a 2K representative told GamesIndustry.biz. "We determined that the additional time required to finish current projects at the studio, particularly Borderlands Online, would not yield a favourable return on investment."

Around 150 staff have been affected by the closure of the studio
Borderlands Online was a free-to-play MMO that was exclusive to China.
Gearbox the studio behind the main instalments of the Borderlands series, is currently working a new FPS called Battleborn. Reports indicate that work has started on the next Borderlands at Gearbox, but there are no details thus far.
