In a couple of days Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 - the newest instalment in Activision's annual shooter franchise, this year developed by Treyarch - will officially debut across several platforms.

There are high expectations surrounding this year's game, not just because of Treyarch's great record in terms of multiplayer, but also because of the ambitious new story campaign (that's heading exclusively to current-gen consoles and PC because the old-gen version will have only multiplayer and Zombies).

Confirmation of the anticipation building around the game was confirmed by Activision's President and CEO, Eric Hirshberg, who told investors that pre-orders for Black Ops 3 are significantly higher than those for Advanced Warfare the year before it. Here's what he said:

"We couldn't be more excited about the launch this Friday. We have strong momentum indicated by a number of factors, but just to name a few: the growing engagement around the past Black Ops titles; the significant year-on-year lift in pre-orders; consumer sentiment around our marketing assets which is more positive for Black Ops III than any Call of Duty title on record; a great partnership with Sony across consumer, trade and custom PS4 bundles; and our ranking as Neilson's Number One Most Anticipated Title of the Year."

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be launching on November 6 on PlayStation 3 and 4, Xbox 360 and One, and of course PC.
