There are high expectations surrounding Dark Souls III, the next chapter in From Software's beloved RPG series, a game expected to land at some point in the first half of 2016.

The Souls series has been always characterised by it's challenging gameplay, a feature that has always attracted fans, and that is many ways the main attraction and therefore the From Software's biggest responsibility.

In an interview with Play Magazine, series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki has addressed this particular issue, reassuring fans that Dark Souls III will remain true to its foundations, although he did say that it will be more accessible to new players:

"Our objective is to make the game possible to accomplish. I want to keep both the possibility of accomplishment and the difficulty itself," Miyazaki explained. "Therefore, for example, adding observation, planning, or learning to the basic difficulty situation adds to the importance of the non-skill elements".

That said, he also mentioned that "seasoned fans" will still love this new direction: "I think seasoned players will feel refreshed and enjoy new strategies. And for new players, I want to make it difficult, of course, but accomplishable and enjoyable".

It sounds promising, in any case. Dark Souls III will land on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on April 17, 2016.
