Yesterday Nintendo revealed Miitomo, their foray into the world of smartphone games. It's the first of five projects that will form the partnership between the House of Mario and DeNA. It's due out in March 2016, and it will be a fremium title that makes money via in-app purchases.

It might not even be considered a game; as far as we can tell it will allow users the opportunity create a Mii on their device (just like the ones you've seen on Nintendo consoles since the Wii), with Miitomo characters asking questions and leaving messages with your listed friends.

It seems people were expecting something more Mario-flavoured from Nintendo for their first mobile title, and TechInAsia notes that the platform holder's stock price dropped nearly 10% on the Tokyo Stock Exchange following the announcement, while DeNA's went down more than 16%.
