If Titanfall was a highlight of last year for you, or even if you gazed at it longingly across the console divide while peeking over your DualShock 4, then next year should be a good one according to Respawn chief Vince Zampella.
According to the studio co-founder they're currently working on tablet and smartphone games based on the IP (they're actually being developed by a new studio called Particle City), although they won't be first-person shooters, instead they'll head out "in a new direction." Intriguing.
There's also the small matter of the free-to-play version of the original game being made in collaboration with Nexon, and the studio are of course working on a full sequel to the Xbox One exclusive, although unlike its predecessor, the new game will be multi-format. Could we get an announcement regarding Titanfall 2 next year, or could it even see release before the end of 2016?
"We continue to focus on Titanfall," Zampella told Venture Beat. "Next year is going to be a very big year for Titanfall. For us, it is exciting to take this universe we created that is so extensible. In my head, there are so many things we can do with it. To be able to partner with Nexon and take this game to a whole new audience is really exciting."
