Mark this one down as a rumour for now, but there's word circulating that Nintendo's next console - NX - is going to be rather powerful. This comes following the recent report from The Wall Street Journal that revealed dev kits were being sent out for the Wii U's successor.

Now reports have emerged on NintendoForums that suggest the processing capabilities of the upcoming console will be "incredibly powerful", and the hardware potentially more capable than PS4 and Xbox One (though given that both of those consoles have been out for a while now, that shouldn't be a huge shock).

Elsewhere, on Nintengen, they dug deeper into the WSJ claims that the NX tech demo is so demanding that only a PC powered by "industry-leading or cutting edge" chips would be able to handle it, adding even more fuel to the fire in terms of speculation.

Obviously all of this is uncorroborated and unconfirmed, so take this with a pinch of salt for now, but regardless of what's true and what isn't, Nintendo will be hoping to make a big impact with their next home console. Given the stuttering start to life endured by the Wii U, they're certainly going to want to come out fighting when they launch their next console, likely at some point in 2016.
