Id Software opens registration for Doom alpha

Not quite ready for the beta yet.

Bethesda and developer id Software have opened up registration for the upcoming closed alpha for Doom on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This is not to be confused with the beta that will be made available for those who pre-ordered Wolfenstein: The New Order on or prior to its release on May 26, 2014. Id Software writes the following regarding the closed alpha:

"Series of development-driven tests designed to stress test the game's dedicated server infrastructure in a real-world consumer environment. It is not the beta, a demo, or representative of the final game."

There will only be one mode available in the closed alpha namely 6v6 team deathmatch.
