Many mobile games have what are referred to as in-app purchases. You know the sort. We often refer to them as microtransactions. Regardless of what we call them, they're a very particular way of monetising games, and they be expertly deployed or tastelessly splattered all over a perfectly good game, ruining it in the process.
Today Kanye West, who usually finds something to shout about, found out just what happens when you give a child free rein over a mobile game filled with microtransactions.
West vented his anger on the matter on his Twitter account, where he directed his fury at the developers that put in-app purchases in games designed for children:
"Fuck any game company that puts in-app purchases on kids games!!!"
"That makes no sense!!! We give the iPad to our child and every 5 minutes there's a new purchase!!!"
"If a game is made for a 2 year old, just allow them to have fun and give the parents a break for Christ sake."
We're guessing that Kanye doesn't have to take out a loan to cover any monies spent, but it does seem like he might've lost a buck or two. There are also, of course, ways to prevent your children from making purchases without permission.
