An interesting feud has been noticed on the League of Legends scene where developers Riot have banned teams from having logos from retailer G2A as part of their attire and merchandise for the upcoming League of Legends World Championships 2015. The teams in question have complied.
On Reddit, Riot's J Eckard clarified the issue and said that G2A had been banned as a sponsor as of September 18. A decision "not taken lightly", but as Riot wants G2A to cease selling accounts and boosting packs for League of League (something that is direct conflict with the Terms of Service) before lifting the ban.
"'Remove all account selling an boosting-site links' was indeed our request. We weren't going to compromise our values on that one in the sake of preserving the sponsorships."
G2A has been in hot water previously over their practices of reselling keys, perhaps most notably with Far Cry 4 where Ubisoft de-activated a bunch of keys as a result (before reinstating some). The retailer has informed the teams it sponsor that if the dispute isn't resolved they will stop sponsoring teams.
Thanks, DailyDot.
