Larian Studios have been enjoying a successful Kickstarter campaign for Divinity: Original Sin II. With less than 24 hours to go the campaign has amassed $1.85 million (original target was $500,000) from close to 40,000 backers.

The additional funds have not only meant icing of course, but actual stretch goals (like Undead Origins at $1.2 million and Dedicated Mod Support at $1.65 million), but another great revelation during the campaign was the addition of legendary writer/designer Chris Avellone who will write at least one of the playable origin stories for the game.

The campaign just achieved the latest stretch goal - Shapeshifting Mask - described as follows:

"Imagine you get a mask that lets you change your shape. One moment you're a lizard, the next an ordinary human, with completely different dialog options (and visuals of course). By expanding on our tag system, we'll let you assume different roles in the game with the same character. This will open completely different play styles. Don't want any competition? Don't want companions? Become a lone wolf with a very special mask..."

Remains to be seen if the final announced stretch goal Game Master Mode ($2 million) can be achieved in the final hours of the campaign. But that would extend the mod-system for the game to include an editor to allow for real-time asymmetric multiplayer where a game master dictates the conditions of a dungeon while a group of adventurers tries to make their way through it.
