Activision has announced the Call of Duty World League, a world league for eSports aimed at supporting the new Call of Duty. This league is designed to involve not only pro players already on the eSports scene, but also more casual players, offering competitions at various levels for all fans of the series.

In this regard, the Call of Duty World League will include two divisions, the Pro Division and the Challenge Division, and each one will see a final to the competitive season at the Call of Duty Championship. Compared to previous years, the tournament dedicated to Pro players will start in January 2016 in the US, Europe and Australia and players will compete throughout the year in regional competitions during the regular season to participate in the Call of Duty Championship in the autumn of 2016. The total prize pool for the event amounts to $3 million.

"Call of Duty has always been about community, camaraderie and competition, which drives incredible engagement with the game all year long. eSports allows us to deliver these moments to our fans whether they are playing the game themselves or cheering on those who are," said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, Inc. "Three years ago, we held the first Call of Duty Championship to showcase the dedication and skill of Call of Duty players around the world. Since then, eSports has become a global phenomenon with more than 120 million people watching online competitive gaming each year and Call of Duty continues to lead as the top console eSports franchise in the world."

As for the Challenge Division, this allows more casual players and aspiring pro gamers to compete and improve their competitive skills. The winning teams of the Challenge Division will win the opportunity to participate at the Call of Duty Championship thanks to a series of official LAN events.

Activision has created a team dedicated to the launch and coordination of the Call of Duty World League, which will begin with the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops III. For more information, please visit the official website.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will land on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on November 6.
