Ubisoft held its Annual General Meeting this week and during the event there was a show of support for the company's current strategy and management setup. This is significant as Vivendi continues to circle the publisher with a view to wrestling control away from its current leadership.
In a statement published by the company they said that they "remain focused on the execution of our strategic roadmap, which has already proven successful and which we are confident will continue to deliver great results and value for all of Ubisoft's stakeholders."
"We're also very happy to welcome two new independent directors, Frederique Dame and Florence Naviner, who will bring their expertise and know-how to Ubisoft's Board," they added.
Vivendi has been looking to increase their presence on the board as they eye greater control over Ubisoft's business, although senior management at the company has continued to fight for independence.
If Vivendi wants to push for a great presence on the board they'll have to wait until next year when there'll be another chance to vote people on or off it, and in the meantime the only option open to them is a hostile takeover. The company owns a 23% stake in Ubisoft, and according to French law they're obligated to make a formal offer for the whole company if their stake exceeds 30%.
