Industry analyst Michael Pachter is at it again, and this time around, he spoke at the DICE Europe conference last week (picked up by GamesIndustry.biz), and had a bunch to say and predict about the lifestime sales of the PS4 and Xbox One consoles.

PlayStation 4 has already shipped 25.3 million units, and Pachter expects the lifestime sales to hit around 120-130 million units, putting it in second place behind PlayStation 2 (whose 155 million units sold makes it the best selling console of all time).

The Xbox One on the other hand will have to deal with a second place this generation, as Pachter expects lifetime sales to hit 100-110 million units. Microsoft has yet to provide updated sales figures for the last year or so, when we learned that they were close to shipping shipping 10 million units to stores.

The Wii U will only sell 20 million units of the course of its life, Pachter says.

He also spoke about the general growth of the games industry, comparing this generation to the collective console sales of the last generation. He concluded/predicted that "the console installed base is as big as it's ever going to get. [This] generation is not going to be bigger than the last generation. We're going to be about the same."
