Despite several websites claiming the contrary, Konami is not intending to exit AAA development.
It started with French website Gameblog reporting that worldwide technology director Julien Merceron had left the company, and in that process stated, that the Japanese publisher would quit AAA development, except for the annual Pro Evolution Soccer.
Now Su-Yina Farmer, community manager at Konami, has spoken out about the matter on Twitter, saying:
"I hope re-purposing speculation and rumour as news, isn't the new standard"
Additionally, a fan on Reddit opened on a support ticket, and asked about Konami's future in the AAA space. He got the following answer:
"I can promise you that we're definitely not leaving Metal Gear behind or anything like that. I know some blogs were claiming that online this morning, but I'm not really sure where they'd be getting that from.
We're still definitely working on console games and franchises such as Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, PES and all the rest."
What role Hideo Kojima will play in this if any is still unknown.
