Maybe it's no major surprise after having released Divinity: Original Sin last year to great critical acclaim, but Larian Studios are off to a great start with the Kickstarter campaign for the sequel. In the Kickstarter pitch Larian's Swen Vincke is open about the fact that there is already a budget in place and that this campaign is there to allow the developers to put even more features into the game. For this purpose they seek $500,000 and it is well over $200,000 in just a few hours of being live.

The most innovative and interesting feature of Divinity: Original Sin II is the multiplayer that allows players to play both co-operatively and competitively depending on their own preference. This is explained in great detail in the pitch video and even demoed.

One interesting thing to note as Larian Studios really wants the feedback of backers is that every tier from $25 and upwards includes access to the alpha and beta versions of the game. The Kickstarter tiers put the game's release down as December 2016, but as always that's merely an estimation.
