MrGamer, a media outlet based in China, recently reported that Tencent are interested in hiring Hideo Kojima, if the Metal Gear Solid creator's depature from Konami is confirmed after the release of The Phantom Pain next month.

The site reports that Tencent has tried to hire Yu Suzuki (the creator of Shenmue) in the past, but that they has since turned their attentions to Hideo Kojima, indicating that negotiations may have already begun.

Tencent is one of the largest Internet companies in the world, with links to several major video game developers. It has made significant investments in Epic Games (Gears of War, Unreal Tournament) and Riot Games (League of Legends), for example. We don't know to what extent this information is reliable, since so far there has been no official comment on the matter, but we await more news with interest.

Thanks, Gearnuke.
