MTV Games, Harmonix and Apple Corps (owners of the music rights to The Beatles) have announced plans for the game developer to create a brand new music game with music from The Beatles.
It is not going to be an add-on to Harmonix' popular game Rock Band, but something separate to be launched in 2009 and the deal is exclusive, thus shutting The Beatles' music out of any other video games.
If you wondering whether the game has the approval of the living band members the press release provides the answer:
"The game was creatively conceived with input from Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, along with Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison, and enjoys their full blessing. In addition, Giles Martin, co-producer of The Beatles innovative LOVE project, will provide his expertise and serve as Music Producer for this groundbreaking Beatles project."
