From Koku Gamer comes the most important gaming news this week - the 28 year old Asteroids record, set in 1982, has been broken by John McAllister, Seattle! It took him 58 hours to rack up 41 338 740 points in Asteroids, playing on a classic Atari cabinet, and with that he managed to beat Scott Safran's old record of 41 336 440.

Amazing! Now the question is if Asteroids Deluxe on Xbox 360's Game Room counts? If that's the case, we could break this record from the comfort of our sofas! If we could stay awake for longer than 2 hours, that is. Which we can't, so McAllister's record will be safe. For now.

Pew pew pew!
