Last weekend CD Projekt Red released a new patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The update to Version 1.08 was mainly aimed to provide better performance. Digital Foundry tested the new version and got some interesting results.
The performance is now as good as it was before version 1.05, but with all the nice additions like smoother movement mode for Geralt, a revised inventory system and a long list of bug fixes. On Xbox One the performance is now again back to an average of 30 frames per second in the Crookback-Bog stress test, but on PlayStation 4 it's still capped at 20. Sony may have gotten the higher resolution, but Microsoft got the better performance.
But there is another thing to note, namely that disabling both blur and motion blur does make a significant improvement on PS4's most troubling areas without actually having a big impact on the image quality.
