Sony wants to grow their popularity among live streamers by adding more options for video uploading in firmware 3.0, this according to Pocket News (and via a translation by Gematsu).

The new update should offer us live broadcasting via Youtube. So far it's only possible on Twitch and Ustream. If the claims made in the article are correct, it'll also be possible to upload ten second clips to Twitter.

The share function will also support video clips and screenshots, and not just live broadcasting. We're getting a new section in the main menu called Events, which will allow us to "discover, participate, and view events".

The new Community menu - as a part of the Friends menu - helps you to find people with similar interests. On top of that, Messages has been improved. For example, we now can use stamps "for more enjoyable communication." Also new in the main menu is a section for PlayStation Plus.

There is no date for firmware 3.0 for PlayStation 4, but the new version is currently in beta, so we probably don't have too long to wait.
