It has been revealed that all GAME stores in Australia are set to close, with 16 expected to shut their doors later today and more set to follow.
GAME's administrator, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, said of the closures: "In the interests of creditors, the 31 remaining GAME stores are to be closed over the coming weeks and a final closing down sale has commenced with discounts of up to 60 percent available in-store and online."
"This is a difficult time for employees and closing the stores was not a decision we made easily. Despite exploring available opportunities for continued trading, the ongoing trading performance and absence of viable offers for the purchase of the business has resulted in these closures."
According to the initial report on MCV Pacific, a creditor's meeting has since taken place, and more details are expected soon.
The closures are the latest development in a series of events that have seen GAME shut down a sizeable number of stores in the UK and abroad.
