Microsoft's vision for Xbox One as an all-in-one entertainment system took a big step forward today: Free-to-air HD television was confirmed alongside DVR recording. We're promised that we'll be able to download shows in the background while we play without interfering with our experience. It's to be a subscription-free service and it's due in 2016.
Messaging also got an improvement via the Xbox Chatpad, which will connect to the Xbox One controller. It's coming in November and it's available to pre-order.
