Dragon Quest XI officially revealed for PS4 and 3DS

The two games will be followed by two separate supporting studios.

A few weeks after the first details emerged by way of Yuji Horii, creator of Dragon Quest series, Square Enix has officially revealed the highly anticipated Dragon Quest XI during a dedicated livestream event. The next main chapter of the longrunning RPG series.

During the reveal, the company also provided the first details of the game. First, the game will land on two very different platforms (PS4 and 3DS), and for this reason, the two games will be different and - although they will have the same core staff - the two projects will be supported by two separate studios (PS4 version with the assistance of Orca, the 3DS version with the assistance of Toy Logic). In addition, the PS4 version runs with Unreal Engine 4, while the 3DS version has the classic style 2D sprites.

At the moment, we have no more information about the game, because while we're writing it hasn't announced the official launch date yet. We'll keep you updated as soon as possible.

It was also revealed that the game will come to Nintendo's next console NX, though no further details were provided.
