While Deus Ex: Human Revolution was undoubtedly a great game, it was also saddled with a few issues. The most prominent were related to the boss fights, which weren't stellar when the game first launched, even if they were improved over time thanks to the Director's Cut.
Unnecessarily frustrating boss encounters shouldn't be an issue with the upcoming Mankind Divided, as Eidos Montreal are handling things a little differently this time (for a start, they're not outsourcing this part of the game, something they did the last time around).
"It's all about supporting all the different play aspects," gameplay director Patrick Fortier told OXM (and via GamesRadar). "There are ways to stealth them, there are ways to beat them in combat and there are conversations you can have that maybe give you a different means of dealing with the situation altogether."
"You can also decide to do it lethally or not," narrative director Mary DeMarle added. "For Human Revolution, because of the way we designed it, [the bosses] always died in the cutscenes. You had no choice. But we rectified that in the Missing Link DLC, and we've rectified it in this game."
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is heading to Xbox One, PS4 and PC sometime next year. For more on the game, head this way to find out why when it comes to the next entry in the series, it's "not just a question of pushing more polygons."
