It's been 17 years since we first played Starcraft, but now the saga is finally coming to an end with this winter's release of Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void. If you want a head start in the game Blizzard announced today that gamers who pre-purchase (or makes a deposit with their pre-order) will immediatly gain access to both the ongoing beta test of the multiplayer and the three prologue missions called Whispers of Oblivion. Here's what CEO and co-founder Mike Morhaime has to say about the coming, standalone, expansion:
"With Legacy of the Void, we're giving some of Blizzard's most iconic characters an unforgettable sendoff and delivering the climactic StarCraft finale players deserve. At the same time, we're excited to bring StarCraft II multiplayer into a whole new era with a host of major new gameplay modes and enhancements-we can't wait to see what the future holds for StarCraft II competition."
