It was never celebrated for ground breaking quality, but a group of dedicated players still remained faithful to EA's free-to-play racing MMO Need for Speed: World for almost five years.

There numbers were to small to keep the game profitably however, and in April of this year EA announced that game indeed was shutting down. Despite having invested quite a lot of resources in it, and at one point amassing millions of users, they no longer wished to keep Need for Speed: World afloat. Come July 15th the servers would thus be taken offline.

A quick look at the calendar reveals that July 15th is today, meaning the garage is now officially closed down. Tough luck for whoever forked up 75 dollars (48 GBP / 68 EUR) for a Koenigsegg CCX Elite Edition or one of the other similarly priced "Premium Elite" cars.
