It's been a good day for Jordan Henderson, because shortly after being announced as Liverpool's new club captain, it has also been confirmed that he's been voted to the front cover of FIFA 16 and will appear there alongside little-known Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi.
It's an interesting choice from football fans, although there's plenty of speculation that there's an element of fan trolling in his selection. Arsenal fans are notoriously vociferous on social media channels, and it's no surprise that one of their players wasn't included in the vote despite their recent FA Cup triumph and third-place finish in the league.
It's thought that many Arsenal-supporting voters played kingmaker and backed Henderson, just to annoy the supporters of other clubs by picking him over the likes of Harry Kane, Sergio Agüero and Thibaut Courtois. As you might expect, social networks are quite lively at the time of writing.
Also joining Messi on the cover of FIFA 16 in different territories around world are:
Australia: Stephanie Catley (plus one more athlete to be confirmed)
Mexico: Marco Fabián
France: Antoine Griezmann
Latin America: Juan Cuadrado
Japan: Shinji Kagawa
