Minecraft creators Mojang are closing down their CCG, Scrolls, revealing yesterday that they "can no longer sustain continuous development" of the game.

Servers will remain active until at least July 2016, but there'll be no further additions or updates of significance (although the studio is "planning to keep a close eye on game balance"). Players will still be able to buy the game, and any money that it makes will be reinvested in keeping it running as long as possible.

The studio wrote: "We've had a great time working on Scrolls, and appreciate every last player who's downloaded our game. Extra big thanks to the most dedicated members of our community; some of you have logged in almost every day since release and dedicated a large portion of your time to dominating the leaderboards and taking care of new players. We salute you, honourable scrolldiers."
