The story of Nathan Drake seems to be perfect for a movie, and that's probably why Sony has for some time been trying hard to get Uncharted on the big screen, but so far without success.

The latest setback has seen director Seth Gordon step away from the project, this according to Empire Online. Sony is still looking for a solid story and several writers have reportedly had a go at putting something together, all to no avail.

The reasons for latest setback is apparently down to finances. Sony boss Tom Rothman said (via Heroic Hollywood) that he wants to cut costs, and that he is looking for something akin to Resident Evil. This change of stance obviously prompted Gordon to step away from the movie adaptation, and Sony once again finds themselves looking at their options and no closer to seeing Uncharted on the big screen.
