Microsoft has always struggled to establish the Xbox brand in Japan, and the introduction of Xbox One has definitely not done the trick. In fact, the new console has been struggling to sell ever since it was released and two weeks ago a new low was reached.

In the period between June 8 and June 14, a mere 100 consoles were sold. That's a hundred consoles over a whole week, for a country with over 125 million citizens. In contrast the Xbox One's biggest competitor, Sony's Playstation 4, sold 10,822 units in the same week, and that was only good enough for third place after New 3DS LL (19,620 units) and Wii U (16,413 units).

The numbers have been provided by Media Create (via Kotaku), and obviously they make though reading for Microsoft. Thankfully their new console is pulling far greater numbers throughout the rest of the world, but as far as Japan is concerned it's hard the view the console as anything other than dead.

The rest of the sales list for the week in question (June 8-14) is as follows:

1. New 3DS LL - 19.620
2. Wii U - 16.413
3. PS4 - 10.822
4. PS Vita - 10.797
5. New 3DS - 4.329
6. PS3 - 2.633
7. 3DS - 943
8. 3DS LL - 880
9. Vita TV - 566
10. Xbox One - 100
