Nintendo on VR: "it's not fun"

We're guessing there's no plans for Virtual Boy 2.

With Sony and Microsoft both dipping their respective toes in the well of VR, and with the tech about to hit the PC space in a major way with Oculus, Vive and all the rest, it'd be natural to assume that Nintendo might be considering it as well.

This is not the case, however, with Nintendo of America head Reggie Fils-Aime commenting on the company's position, saying that at the moment virtual reality isn't where they'd like it to be before they get involved. Simply put, they don't think it's fun just yet.

"What we believe is that, in order for this technology to move forward, you need to make it fun and you need to make it social," Fils-Aime told Polygon.

"I haven't walked the floor, so I can't say in terms of what's on the floor today, but at least based on what I've seen to date, it's not fun, and it's not social. It's just tech."

Fils-Aime added Nintendo has been "experimenting" with VR for a "long, long time." And of course, let's not for one minute forget that Nintendo once released something called the Virtual Boy...
