It was a pretty safe bet that NX would be the next home console from Nintendo, but we didn't know for sure, and there was speculation that it might have been some kind of console / mobile crossover, or perhaps even a tablet.
Well, evidence regarding the NX is mounting, with Nintendo of America's Reggie Fils-Aime the latest to describe it as a console when speaking to The Wall Street Journal:
"We've also said publicly that we are already hard at work on our next home console and that's another element we'll be talking about much later."
This follows similarly themed comments from Metroid Prime producer Kensuke Tanabe, who also referred to the NX as a console this week at E3.
