We already knew that Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night had been a success on Kickstarter, but now that the campaign has come to an end we can take stock of its considerable achievements.

Most notably it's the new record holder as the most funded video game to pass through the crowdfunding site, with Koji Igarashi's pitch proving without a doubt that there's a huge appetite for a spiritual successor to the classic Castlevania titles.

The game's original target was $500k, but the campaign attracted more than ten times that, with the final figure ending up as $5,545,991 - it's a record that'll take some beating.

When the game is released (it's targeted for March 2017) it'll be launching on PC, Xbox One, and PS4, but thanks to stretch goals it's heading to Wii U and PS Vita, and there'll be a "prequel mini-game" released on all platforms.

Other unlocks include a classic mode, asynchronous online multiplayer, local co-op, additional playable characters, and our favourite of the lot, a roguelike dungeon.

Now all we've got to do is wait for it to arrive...
