There's been plenty of chatter regarding Halo 5: Guardians in recent days, and today there's been a little bit more fuel for the fire. The word on the street was that there would be no local co-op campaign, and this rumour has since been confirmed.

343i's Frank O'Connor wrote on Neogaf that "yes, it's a bummer but 60fps had to take precedence. It's not just aesthetics- the entire simulation is built on that framerate."

On the bright side, it seems that there will be local multiplayer, but unlike previous entries in the series, we're only going to get two-player split-screen, not the usual four-player offering.

It was also thought that Halo 5's multiplayer would not require the standard online subscription, but 343i's Josh Holmes has since confirmed that he originally misspoke and this isn't the case; players will need Xbox Live Gold if they're going to buddy up online.
