First in-game screens released

Funcom showed off the first gameplay footage from The Secret World a couple of weeks ago at Game Developer's Conference at the embargo has now been lifted. Below are the first in-game screens from the game.

This giant crab boss is someone you will encounter on the shoreline close to the town of Kingsmouth, Maine where foul things have begun to surface and the dead refuse to stay below ground...

The gameplay is very action oriented and although there is cooldown on certain abilities, it's firmly based on skills rather than stats.

This scrapyard is one of the environments in Kingsmouth, the first proper location you will explore in The Secret World.

<bild>The preacher tells us we're all doomed... or something. Much of the story is told through cut scenes with characters who may or may not hide a dark past.</bild>
<bild>This Cthulhu like creature levitates and like to dip his feet (or whatever they are) in the soothing waters of the Northeast.</bild>
<bild>Kingsmouth is not just up ahead... it's mostly dead. One night the fog came in and took the majority of the people away. Now they come back every night as mindless undead, and no matter how many times you kill them they keep coming back.</bild>
