"We treated it as E3-again in the past, now we plan a real show," says Phil Spencer.

Microsoft has always been a major player at E3, but not so much when it came to Gamescom, with Sony winning in the press conference wars over this side of the world in the past.

This year it seems to be the other way around. Sony has already announced it won't have a Gamescom press conference, and Microsoft has said it will. And it seems like it might be a major show.

Phil Spencer has been answering fan questions on Twitter about Gamescom and how they will treat it this year and said: "We kind of treated it as E3-again in past, now we plan a real show. Only issue is short time between GC and E3, tough to manage."

Perhaps the fact that Sony is doing very well in Europe have something to do with the fact that they will have a no-show, but Microsoft isn't as fortunate. Phil Spencer acknowledges this in a tweet to a fan about how important Gamescom is for Europe: "I agree and we have work to do with Xbox in Europe so it's important that we are there with news and a good show."

Finally he tweets about showing a lot of first party games this time on E3, but also Gamescom: "This year our 1st party presence at both shows will be strong and mostly distinct. It's going to be fun."
