Logitech G29 racing wheel for PS4 leaked

The brand would be back to game business with this model, if leaked doc and pics are legitimate.

It's well known that racing fans haven't been as happy with the new generation of consoles as they might have been, after manufacturers weren't able to offer last generation racing wheel support for either PS4 or Xbox One.

Despite being high quality, expensive peripherals, users aren't able to, for example, play the just released Project CARS on PS4 behind their good old Logitech G27. Wheel manufacturers point out the need for a special security chip on PS4, while Microsoft argues that new features and better feedback on Xbox One makes too much of a difference.

Thus users are forced to buy new wheels if they're to truly enjoy the newest racing games, while brands such as Thrustmaster and Mad Catz, with their current-gen offerings, are reaping the benefits. It's also worth noting that Logitech quit the gaming wheel scene some time ago, so no news (or even an agreement to fix for their older models) was expected.

This is why these latest rumours, if the sources are accurate and the assets legitimate, are rather shocking. Not because the Logitech G25 or G27 models are going to be magically supported by PS4, which doesn't seem the case, but because it could mean the return of Logitech as a competitor in this field... of course with a new, PS4-compatible wheel.

It's Maxconsole who's leaking allegedly exclusive pictures and documents proving the existence of the new Logitech G29. First, the racing wheel has been recently approved for consumer launch in Russia, according to the provided document. Then, the accompanying pictures are supposedly taken of the real thing; a new PS4 racing wheel design with a different layout and the inclusion of the Share button.

It remains to be seen whether the peripheral is real, although its official announcement would confirm that Logitech is back in the business, which would increase competition, something which always benefits users. However, it remains unclear if this move would ease the anger of those who recently spent 300+ on their HQ wheels and won't be able to play with them yet. It could, in fact, turn out to be exactly the opposite.
