Good news for real-time strategy fans; the Ukrainian studio GSC Game World just announced the development of Cossacks 3. The game will be modern remake of the first entry in the series, with armies numbering in the thousands, and with "reconciled" game mechanics.

"Over the years of its existence, GSC has been engaged in numerous fields, however making good games is what we do best. For this very purpose, we are resuming our activities," said studio head Evgeniy Grygorovych. "Over the past year and a half, we have been secretly working on a new project, and now is the time to tell players all over the world about it."

The game includes construction and production of resources. There's to be a vast selection of unit types and firearms. Up to 10,000 units can be on the map at any one time. Five historical single-player campaigns are planned in the 17th and 18th centuries, with twelve playable nations. GSC offers realistic physics for bullets and cannonballs, and the landscape should have an influence on tactics. The release of Cossacks 3 is scheduled for the 4th quarter of 2015.
