The Portal 2 mystery continues

Gabe Newell is nothing except a big tease

When Valve's Gabe Newell accepted his Pioneer Award at GDC, he was going to show a slideshow about the future of the company. The last slide was supposed to answer such burning questions as "Who is the G-Man?" and why Valve has chosen not to support Playstation 3. Instead the computer crashed, and presented this blue screen.

Newell's Blue Screen of Death. Thanks. Joystiq.

Of course, that was hardly a coincidence. Instead, it was just another part of the ongoing Portal 2-mystery, that's been going on for a while now. Despite Somewhat Awful's claims to the contrary, the Internet has yet to make everyone stupid and over at the Penny Arcade forums the error code was soon translated into readable English. "D7C5D5C4 in E4D 5E3(C9) * D3C5C5C5" then became "(U)(S) : (P)(E)(N)(D) in (U)(N )(T)((I)) * (L)(E)(E)(E).

"Pendin until EEE", in other words. 3 x E? E3? Could it be that Valve is ready to present something big at E3 this year? It seems like it, and it's now time to speculate. Is it more info on Portal 2? Will it be about Half-Life 2: Episode Three (which some of us are anxiously waiting to hear more about)?
