Codemasters VP Gavin Cheshire confirmed in an interview that the company is working on Colin McRae: Dirt 3, alongside the recently announced Bodycount. "There's some great stuff coming from Birmingham that's going into Dirt 3, and obviously you've seen Bodycount", he said to Edge.
Considering that Colin McRae: Dirt 2 is one of the few racing games that I've managed to maintain an interest in for more than five minutes (on easy difficulty, mind you), I'm quite happy at the prospect of jumping back into an arcady rally racer.
Chesire also talked a bit about the philosophy that the company has followed while working on their racing games. "Dirt was a complete reboot - we threw away what was going on and redid it completely - and then we rebooted Grid because it wasn't top gun, and then we rebooted Dirt 2", he said. "I'm not saying we're throwing all the codebase away, but we're throwing the thoughts away and coming out with something fresh and new. Because if you don't innovate, you're dead."
