Bungie hosted a massive Destiny livestream last night over on Twitch (you can watch it here), where the developer revealed a bunch of information about the upcoming expansion, The Taken King. Here are a few highlights from the show.

First off, Bungie was happy to reveal that the expansion will see each player's vault space doubled, with 72 slots for armor, and 72 slots for weapons, each in their own separate tab. No doubt this will be appreciated by hoarders, but we're guessing it won't take long to fill up the new allocation.

This ties into Light levels. We already knew that Light is going to be changed. According to Bungie our new Light level is being "grandfathered in", which that means your level will be henceforth be calculated via the gear that you own. That means that players should NOT dismantle any of their existing gear, even stuff is sitting in the vault, as it will also be used to calculate your new level (hence the importance of the expanded inventory).

The new setup means that your level won't be based on the gear that you're wearing at any particular time, but rather on your accumulated inventory.

Next up, the currency system will be revamped, and Crucible and Vanguard marks will now be combined into a single currency, Legendary Marks. These marks are account-wide, as it is with Glimmer, and will drop during heroic daily PvE and PvP playlists.

Players are going to be able to track 32 quests and 16 bounties at a time in the new quest tab, and that's across both PvP and PvE, with existing quests updated to make them better compliment the incoming injection of content. Another nice touch, we won't have to turn quests in at the Tower, they'll do so automatically.

Faction vendors will also offer quests, as will Shaxx (who'll also have Legendary Ghosts that offer perks in PvP play) and when players complete them they'll be getting Nightfall tier rewards, which could potentially mean exotic drops.

Finally, there's also a way for you to re-buy old exotic items, and also break down these items to components, which can then be used create new items via blueprints.

If you missed the livestream, worry not because you can watch it here and get all the minor details, and on top of that, Bungie will host another livestream next week on August 26.

The Taken King launches on September 15 on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4.
